We’ll begin in Karlovy Vary, surrounded by elegant colonnades, grand hotels and thermal springs — a town shaped by centuries of European spa culture and the emperors, aristocrats, artists and celebrities who came here.
Then, after a short scenic drive through Western Bohemia, everything changes.
Loket is small, dramatic and unmistakably medieval — a historic town wrapped around by the Ohře River and dominated by a powerful stone castle above the valley.

What I love about this journey is how completely the atmosphere changes in just a few hours.
We begin among elegant hotels, thermal springs and stories of European high society. Later, we’re walking through a medieval fortress, discovering old legends and looking down over the Ohře River.

[ THE EXPERIENCE ]
From elegant spa society to medieval Bohemia.
Our day begins in the historic spa center of Karlovy Vary. We’ll walk beneath its famous colonnades, taste mineral water directly from the thermal springs and discover how generations of visitors came here for health, society, entertainment, romance — and sometimes reasons that had very little to do with medicine.
Along the way, we’ll hear stories of emperors, aristocrats, artists and celebrities, see the legendary Grandhotel Pupp and discover traditions connected with Becherovka, Moser crystal and the famous Karlovy Vary spa wafers.

Then the atmosphere changes completely.
A short scenic drive takes us to Loket, one of the most atmospheric medieval towns in the Czech Republic. Surrounded on three sides by the Ohře River, the tiny historic town grew beneath a powerful stone castle dramatically positioned above the valley.

We’ll explore Loket Castle and discover its turbulent history, medieval prison, local legends and fascinating connection with Emperor Charles IV. And from high above the river, we’ll enjoy spectacular views that feel worlds away from the elegant spa streets where our day began.
